This project is a type specimen book developed around ITC Galliard, focusing on how the typeface behaves across hierarchy, spacing, and extended reading rather than treating it as a purely historical artefact. Instead of functioning as a neutral catalogue, the specimen is approached as a designed object, using layout, pacing,
and contrast to test how Galliard holds tension between calligraphic warmth and structural discipline.
The book explores both legibility and personality, paying particular attention to how weight, scale, and typographic rhythm affect tone. Through this process, the project shifts away from showcasing every glyph and toward examining how a typeface carries voice, authority, and texture in use.
